Independent Study

Overview

Independent study offers students the opportunity to explore academic topics beyond the scope of existing DKU courses. Details about the differences between Independent Study and Research Independent Study can be found on the DKU website.

Independent Study Proposal

Proposals for Independent Study are submitted via the (Research) Independent Study Permission Form, which can be found at the DKU Registrar’s student resources page. As part of the permission form, the applying student must submit an Independent Study Proposal describing in detail the proposed study, including learning objectives, research or readings to be conducted, schedule and work expectations, and types and weights of assessment.

Topics

If you are interested in pursuing an independent study under my supervision, please contact me to discuss the topic and the details of the course structure. Possible topics are Hamiltonian systems, symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry, and collective dynamics. In Fall 2024, I supervised a 2-credit independent study on Symplectic Geometry. Details of the course setup can be found in the submitted independent study proposal .
